“He is one of the best athletes in the state,” said Walnut Hills High School Coach Ricardo Hill. “He is one of those guys that, tremendous athlete, he is touching the top of the square. He is about 6’6”, real long. Super, super athlete.”
College interest for Daniels ranges from MAC schools to Big East and Big 12.
“Xavier has had him down there a couple times to a couple games,” said Coach Hill. “He doesn’t have an yoffers yet, but he will.”
West Virginia Assistant Coach Erik Martin is tracking Daniels. WVU hits Ohio hard, as Martin and Head Coach Bob Huggins have statewide ties.
Xavier, Dayton, Akron, Miami (Oh), and Ohio State are all involved. Daniels attended a game at Xavier this past winter.
“I love it,” said Daniels. “Great atmosphere. I love the crowd.”
Daniels also called the campus beautiful. As his list of possible schools mounts, expect the early Xavier appreciation to carry much weight. The sophomore also listed an unexpected dream school.
“Florida State,” said Daniels. “My sister went there. I think that is a great fit for me. I want to start a little family tradition and go there. She went there 2010-2013. She played for Indiana Fever (WNBA). Right now she is playing overseas in Egypt.”
DiShon Daniels AAU Activity
This summer Daniels will run with Jamie Skelton Basketball Academy, an AAU and skills training center out of the Cleveland-area.
“My cousin, Jamie Skelton, he used to play for Ohio State, will be the coach,” said Daniels.
Skelton played for the Buckeyes from 1991-1994. He was an exceptional outside shooter. Entering the AAU fights for players can be tough, but Coach Skelton has earned respect. He is gathering some nice players.
Likely to compete with the JSBA team are: Hyland Burton (Kennedy Catholic), Delshawn Orr (Avon). And don’t forget DiShon Daniels. Not one college recruiter will.
