Amir Coffey (Hopkins, Sr). Minnesota’s Mr. Basketball winner led his team to a state title with a 31-1 record scoring 19 points a game shooting 64 percent from the field and 67 percent from the foul line. Also gave the Royals 6.7 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and a couple steals a night.
Michael Hurt (Rochester JM, Sr). At 19.8 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 8.1 assists per game. The future Gopher had five triple doubles this year plus he shot 56 percent from the floor, 75 percent at the foul line, and 43.2 percent at the arc.
Steffon Mitchell (Shakopee, Sr). Mitchell wasn’t able to lead his team to state for the third straight year but he did push them to 22 wins averaging 24.9 points. 9.7 rebounds, 2.7 steals, and 3.3 assists a contest.
Gary Trent Jr (Apple Valley, Jr). The five star recruit gave the Eagles 26.7 points, six rebounds, two steals, and two assists a game shooting an impressive 54 percent from the field on 540 attempts.
Nathan Reuvers (Lakeville North, Jr). The Panther big helped lead his team to second place in state putting up 19.8 points and 8.2 rebounds a contest shooting 58 percent from the floor, an outstanding 41 percent at the arc, and 81 percent at the foul line.
Second Team
Tre Jones (Apple Valley, Soph). Jones gave the Eagles 16 points, seven assists, and just over six rebounds a contest for a team that was 30-2. Jones shot nearly 60 percent from the floor for the season including 37 percent at the arc.
Vinnie Shahid (Hopkins, Sr). Shahid averaged 15.2 points and three assists a night shooting 51 percent from the arc and 85 percent from the foul line for the state champions.
Brad Davison (Maple Grove, Jr). Davison led his team to the state tournament with 21.1 point per game scorer and averaged 7.5 assists a night. Brad shot 52.3 percent from the floor, 37.8 percent at the arc, and 86 percent at the foul line averaging eight foul shots a game.
Nate Albers (Mounds View, Sr). Nate averaged 24.8 for the year and went over 30 points six times with a high of 40 that was second against East Ridge.
Allen Anderson (Osseo, Sr). The Oriole leader led his tem to a 30-2 season with 11.1 points, 4.1 assists, and a couple steals per contest.
Third Team
McKinley Wright (Champlin Park, Jr). The Rebel lead guard scored 19.7 points a contest with5.8 assists and 2.5 steals a night
Myles Hanson (Chaska, Jr). His 24.1 points a game with a 21-6 Chaska record is far above what we expected and only shows how consistent Myles continues to be.
Jordan Horn (Tartan, Jr). The Tartan lead guard led his team in scoring (17.3 a night) and assists while pushing the Titans to a 24-5 season that came up one game short of a state tournament berth.
Johnny Beeninga (Wayzata, Sr). The Trojan lead guard guided his team to 21 victories with 15.2 points and five assists a game.
Amar Miller (Minnetonka, Sr). Miller gave the Skippers 23.1 points and 6.5 assists per contest. Had a season high 36 points in his last game (first round section loss to EP) and his Tonka squad finished 14-11.
Fourth Team
Cameron Kirksey (Apple Valley, Sr). Put up 15.6 points, 4.9 rebounds, and two blocks a game shooting 50 percent from the arc on 40 treys and 60 percent overall from the field.
Carter Brooks (Lakeville North, Sr). Brooks was the do everything senior for the Panthers averaging 13 points and 5.5 rebounds a game while working to slow down opposing team’s top scorers.
Daniel Oturo (Creting-Derham Hall, Soph). Daniel Oturo led a group of young players to 20 wins while averaging a dominant 16.8 points and 14.6 rebounds a game inside.
Brock Bertram (Apple Valley, Sr). The Eagles center gave his team 13 points and 9.8 rebounds a game putting up around double-figure numbers for the fourth straight year.
Melvin Newbern Jr (Cooper, Sr). Helped the Hawks have a turn around season while putting up 20.1 points and just over nine boards a game.
Fifth Team
Matt Keller (Elk River, Sr). Keller knocked out 23 points a contest with three assists a game for the Elks who went 23-6 which was a much better mark than many expected.
Theo John (Champlin Park, Jr). Theo gave the 21 win Rebels 14 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 3.3 blocks a game improving all of his numbers from a year ago.
Owen Chose (Eden Prairie, Jr). Owen made 38 percent of his treys scoring 18.1 points per game for a team that made the state tournament.
Matthew Hurt (Rochester JM, Fr). Produced 19 points, 8.4 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and three blocks a game for the 24 win Rocket club.
Jack Sorenson (Lakeville South, Jr). Sorenson led the Cougars with 22.7 plus points a contest playing in all but three games and topping the 40 point mark (41) in a win over Tartan.
Sixth Team
Demario Armstrong (Osseo, Sr). Put up a dozen points per game while leading the team in steals, was second in assists, and the top defender.
Ben Scherer (Blaine, Sr). Led the Bengals to 19 wins and the state tournament putting up 15.6 points and 7.9 rebounds a night.
Xavier Johnson (Hopkins, Sr). The Royal guard scored 14 points a game including an explosive 43.5 percent shooting at the arc this year.
Jeremiah Coddon (Woodbury, Jr). Explosive guard who scored 18 points a game on a balanced team that flipped their record around from 6-21 last year to 24-4 this season.
Race Thompson (Armstrong, Soph). Race led the team with 15 points per game and 7-8 rebounds a night playing a variety of roles and positions.
Reed Nikko (Maple Grove, Sr). Averaged 10.5 points per game shooting 61 percent from the floor on his 6-7 shots a game. Also put up 6.9 rebounds and just over three blocks a contest.
