Scotlandville has won its four playoff games by an average of 21.3 points and their toughest challenge was in the quarterfinals against St. Augustine. The Hornets entered hostile territory to take on Class 5A’s 10th-seeded squad and got key contributions from a few players in a 71-58 win.
2018 Javonte Smart is a consensus top 10 recruit in the country and the 6-foot-4 point guard was near the top of his game in the quarterfinals against the Purple Knights.
While he didn’t get too hot from beyond the arc making just one of his three 3-pointers, Smart remained aggressive getting to the rim time and time again en route to a 22-point, six-assist performance. He particularly made his presence felt in the first quarter, the beginning of the second half and the last few minutes of the game as Scotlandville pulled away.
2016 forward Garrick Green also had a huge night scoring 22 points with 21 rebounds. The 6-foot-6 forward also blocked five shots and repeatedly carved out good position in the paint showing a good touch around the rim.
2017 forward Lamarq Williams (6-foot-4, 210 pounds) also protected the paint with six rejections and added five rebounds with four points. Williams is averaging 6.2 points per game with 4.7 rebounds this season and had his best stretch in late January when he averaged 16.5 points with 6.8 rebounds over four straight games.
