First Team All Freshmen
Matthew Hurt, Rochester JM. Produced 19 points, 8.4 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and three blocks a game for the 24 win Rocket club at the Class AAAA level. Looked at as the next five star level talent among the underclassmen in Minnesota.
David Roddy, Breck. The 6-foot-4 225 pound frontcourt player bruised his way to 16 points a contest and led the Mustangs to a much better season (17 wins) than most thought they would have after graduating so many quality seniors.
Courtney Brown, East Ridge. In 22 games Courtney averaged 9.6 points a night for a Raptor team that was better than expected. Had a season high 19 points in a win over Roseville.
Derek Techam, Delano. The corner sharp shooter was Delano’s third leading scorer at 11 points a contest which is even more impressive when you consider that the Tigers won 22 games this season.
Jenson Beachy, Perham. Beachy put up 12.7 points a game this year shooting 38 percent from the arc for the season while also being second on the team in assists and leading the team in steals.
Second Team All Freshmen
Michael Landquist, Nevis. Landquist was the second leading scorer for one of the better teams in Northern Minnesota putting up 14.4 points per contest (3rd in state amongst frosh) and seven boards a night.
Brekken Lindberg, Win-E-Mac. One of the best young bigs in the state is Lindberg who recorded a solid 10 points and 6 rebounds a contest as a 6-foot-7 developing post. The Patriots are in a bit of a rebuilding mode and Brekken is a nice player to build around.
Malik Willingham, Waseca. Scored over six points with rebounds a game and was one of the main guys on the floor for the Jays at all times. Willingham matured as a player on a team that made the state tournament.
Tyrell Terry, DeLaSalle. Tyrell came off the bench to play 15 games for the Islanders as a point guard, a working defender, and a guy who hit open shots. Once he was eligible he played nearly as many games for the state champs as others on this list.
Isaac Fink, Springfield. On a balanced offensive team with a lot of youth Fink gave Springfield 12.3 points per contest and was also a playmaker for others ranking second on the team in assists.
Third Team All Freshmen
Michael Ziermann, Lester Prairie-HT. The sixth leading freshman scorer in the state Ziermann quickly took over the playmaking role for the struggling Bulldogs earning 12.2 points per contest along with 4.5 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game.
Khari Broadway, Park Center. Broadway came off the bench and assisted Coach James Ware with between six and seven points a contest as a 6-foot-2 wing. Opened the year with a season high 12 against Brooklyn Center which he tied twice more.
Samuel Schwartz, White Bear Lake. Was often times the most dangerous weapon that the Bears had scoring 7.5 a night (third on the team) leading the team in scoring a third of the games with a high of 15 at Forest Lake.
Brandon Adelman, New London-Spicer. Starting point guard for the Wildcats this year led the team in assists and was the fourth leading scorer at eight points a contest.
Travis Yohnke, Parkers Prairie. Outstanding football year was followed by a double figure consistency on the court as a 6-foot-5 worker in the paint.
Fourth Team All Freshmen
Carter Hansen, RTR. Scored eight points a game for 18 win RTR and was slowly becoming a bigger and bigger part of the offense.
Jalan Miller, Robbinsdale Cooper. Freshman guard who was one of a few Cooper young players that stepped into the line-up and supported a quality varsity team. Miller scored five points a game.
Noah Christensen, Breckenridge. Scored 7.5 points with 4.5 rebounds a night for a Breckenridge club that was much better than anybody expected them to be this year.
Cade Goggleye, North Woods. Freshman point guard of one of the best point guards in Class A this year, his brother Darnell broke the school scoring record this year and Cade is on a nice path.
Trey Hungerholt, LeRoy-Ostrander. Trey started his varsity career strong with 8.4 points, 6.2 assists, five rebounds, and four steals a game for a team that struggled but has a lead guard for the future.
Fifth Team All Freshmen
Jalen Justice, Cooper. Another Hawks young player who helped a quality team win games for a good portion of the year averaging 4-5 points a contest.
Hunter Rosenbaum, Monticello. Gave his team four points a game this year and in some games was one of the two or three players for the Magic. Had a season high 14 points in the section tournament against Becker.
Camden Arndt, Morris Area. Camden played at forward and gave a solid Morris team over eight points a game and five boards a nice as a ninth grader.
Siegel Howard, Maranatha Christian. Played a good role for the Hawks this year scoring four points off the bench and showing flashes of bigger future production.
Cooper Hansen, RTR. Cooper was more of the playmaker for the team finishing as the second listed in assists per game and was also the second leading rebounder plus scored 5-6 a night.
James Flicek, Princeton. James played in every game for Princeton this year scoring between 5-6 points a contest and putting up a season high 17 against Cambridge.
