A sharpshooting wing, Weiskamp just keeps getting better and better. The Hawkeyes recognized this very early on, and secured Iowa’s top 2018 during his freshman season. We knew he’d be good this season, but he may have surpassed expectations. Wieskamp lead all sophomores averaging 21.6 points per game on 53 percent shooting. The Iowa commit also added 2.6 blocks and 10 rebounds per game. Hawkeye fans can get excited about this 2018 prospect.
First Team
Joe Wieskamp, 6’5 SG, Muscatine — He’s the only guy in the class to commit to a high-major D1 and he put up the best numbers. The Hawkeyes are getting a good one.
Luke Vaske, 6′ PG, Norwalk — Vaske does everything well for the Warriors, and led the 4A team with 19 points per game. He also rebounded very well from the guard spot (5.5 per game)
AJ Green, 6′ PG, Cedar Falls — The silky smooth point guard blew up this year with the Tigers, and earned his first D1 offer from UNI because of it. He’s just scratching the surface.
Elijah Hazekamp, 6’5 F, Bishop Heelan — This could be a summer where the highly productive forward starts to pull in some offers. He averaged 15.3 points and 9.7 rebounds this season with the Crusaders.
Van Rees, 6’6 F, Sioux City East — A certain nominee for breakout player of the year among sophomores, Rees put up huge numbers — 15.0 points, 11.6 rebounds per game — and was just one of four guys in 4A to average a double-double.
