Frankfort Regional (Lafayette Central Catholic, North Vermillion, Liberty Christian, Seton Catholic) – The pivotal matchup in this Regional is between Liberty Christian and Seton Catholic in the first round. Liberty has already beat Seton this season, 55-49. Seton is capable of flipping the outcome but Liberty has many more weapons. Central Catholic is the veteran program here and knows what it takes to win games in March. With that said, Liberty is the best team here by a long shot and even in the toughest Regional in 1A, they should still make it through.
Martinsville Regional (Southwestern (Shelbyville), Indianapolis Tindley, Bloomfield, Indianapolis Arlington) – It will be an interesting mix of matchups in the first round with the difference between city and country school. Tindley is the talented, but guard heavy school with top end talent in Eric Hunter and Hunter White. Arlington has some guys as well but Bloomfield has the size advantage in any matchup. Southwestern had to beat two better teams in Sectionals to get to this point and Tindley isn’t a pushover. Could see an all-Indianapolis Championship game if Bloomfield can’t find a way to slow down Arlington.
Triton Regional (Gary 21st Century, Triton, Fort Wayne Blackhawk, South Newton) – Gary 21st Century has the best scoring threat outside of Seton Catholic’s Desmond Bane. Eugene German should be tough to stop and Triton gets the first crack at him. Triton hasn’t beaten any of the biggest teams on their schedule but has pretty much taken care of business otherwise. Blackhawk is a pretty solid team and have a difference-maker of their own in 6’6 Drake Thompson. If they can keep games lower scoring and find a way to feed the post, they could shed South Newton and find themselves in the Championship game.
Loogootee Regional (Rock Creek, Wood Memorial, West Washington, North Daviess) – This is probably the most balanced group of teams in any 1A Regional. The first round matchup between Rock Creek and Wood Memorial is fairly interesting as Rock Creek is mostly seniors and Wood Memorial is backed by a freshman and a sophomore. Wood Memorial has been a little more tested, though, so it will be interesting to see if they can get through this next game. With North Daviess and West Washington, Daviess is the least successful team in this group but much like Wood Memorial, they have been a little more tested. A real toss-up and not sure you could be surprised if any team won this Regional.
