Session 2 Recap: Vantage Hoops High School Showcase
Battlefield 86 – Kecoughtan 78
Battlefield came out of the gate looking crisp, while Kecoughtan struggled to get their feet under them. As the game progressed, the Bobcats jumped out to a big lead and continued to pour on it through the half. Led by Shonari Street, it seemed as though they could not miss and finished the half with an impressive 64% field goal percentage. Entering the third quarter, Battlefield held a 15 point lead and was poised to put the game away, but Kecoughtan woke up and started chipping away behind a big effort in the post from Dominique Johnson. With the game now in reach, Kecoughtan’s Damian Knowlin, who had been out since the second quarter with 4 fouls, took over the fourth quarter. Finding a multitude of ways to finish at the rim, he willed his team to back within five points and had 19 of his 24 in the final quarter. Battlefield, however, was able to regain their composure and never let the Warriors get any closer, ending up with an 86 to 78 win.

On the other hand, Williamsburg Christian struggled to find a rhythm in the early going and finished the half shooting only 18% from the floor. While Millwood maintained a sizeable lead throughout the game, Williamsburg Christian did pick it up in the 2nd half and showed to be a resilient team, never giving up the fight.
