“A lot of that D1 interest has fell off, and the only school to offer me has been Central Florida Community College (College of Central Florida). But I have a lot of interest from King’s College (PA), Eckerd, and Winston-Salem (NC). Most of them have been talking about maybe offering later in the season,” said Dodson.
“I’m in contact with Eckerd the most, we talk about two or three times a week.”
The senior is young for his grade, and says he’s still eligible to play with some 17U programs this coming spring and summer. He mentioned the Florida Tarheels or Team Speights as possible teams he’ll play with.
“I feel like my recruitment could be better, but I’m not going to stress it,” he said. “I feel like it will come over time. And I’m probably going to play in the live period over the summer to try and get better looks, and that’s basically it.”
the 5-foot-9 point guard — PHF’s 83rd-ranked 2016 — says he would consider playing JuCo ball next season.
“I look forward to playing anywhere, anywhere where I can go and play immediately,” said Dodson. “I’ve talked about JuCo a few times with my parents, and if I can go somewhere and play, and showcase my talents to get to another school after one or two years then that’d be fine.”
Dodson has been scoring the ball nicely with the Hawks and passing it well too. He says he’s averaging 18 points and eight assists per game during his senior season.
“I’ve become a better scorer, and I’ve been shooting the ball a lot better from the 3-point line. I’ve gotten a lot stronger and have added a lot more weight since the summer,” he said.
“I feel like I’m playing a lot better this season, and a lot more poised. I’m playing how they expected me to play this year, and a lot better than last year.”
He added: “They just need me to be the leader of the team, and to score the ball. I need to make sure everyone is in the right position, make sure everything is going well on the court – basically just that.”
