Player Of The Week: Feb. 22–28
Owen Chose, Eden Prairie — The junior has been the most explosive scorer in the state thus far in sections. He kicked off the week with a 42-point outburst against Minnetonka, and he followed that with a 30-point outing against Shakopee.
Thomas Madison, Hermantown — The senior guard dropped two 29-point performances, including a first-round routing of Duluth Denfield and an upset win over No. 2-seeded Grand Rapids. Hermantown will play Chisago Lakes for a state tourney berth.
Thomas Acquoi, North St. Paul — NSP was down the whole game to Woodbury until two three-pointers in the last minute — including one with 24 seconds left to tie — went in from Acquoi. The Polars went on to win 97-87 in overtime, led by 21 points from Acquoi.
Cal Wishart, Delano — The sophomore has been rolling since the start of sections, logging 17 points, 11 assists and 7 rebounds against Mound-Westonka and then putting up a school-record 40 points against a very tough Orono opponent.
Julian Jackson, Patrick Henry — Henry’s senior big man put up the statistical performance of the month (and maybe the whole year) when he went off for 42 points and 22 rebounds against Benilde-St. Margaret’s.
Javonni Bickham, Minnehaha Academy — Javonni kept the Red Hawks’ playoff hopes alive with a monster game: 35 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists in a win over St. Croix Prep.
