Gordon’s importance as an improved shooter and ability to get into the lane makes sure Cathedral’s offense goes. The Irish rely on the 3-point shot often and Gordon opens up the outside with the way he is able to penetrate. There are other guards on this team who can create, but Gordon’s rise in play has gone alongside the team’s winning streak to end the season.
CJ Walker – 6-0 PG – Indianapolis Tech
There are lots of seniors doing great thigns for this team, but there is also a reason Walker is a leading candidate for Mr. Basketball. He has been averaging 24.3 PPG and 5.5 APG. If Tech is to somehow emerge from its gauntlet of a sectional, it will be because Walker plays dominant basketball, scores in the 20s and is the best player on the court every game.
Malik Williams – 6-9 PF – Snider
The Panthers are a team who rely almost exclusively on their frontcourt. Williams is the best of this bunch and can step outside for a jumper from time to time. He also is a defensive presence and nearly can shutdown the inside for opposing teams with his length and ability to block shots.
Jaylen Minnet – 6-1 PG – Terra Haute South
The IUPUI commit has shown the ability to shoot from extraordinary range and if South is to finally overcome North this season it will be behind Minnet. He has the ability to be a strong scoring point guard and needs to showcase those skills for South to go far.
Dru Smith – 6-2 PG – Evansville Reitz
Smith has been the major reason Reitz has stayed a top team this season. He has shown his skills in handling the guard spot and helping push Reitz to potentially making another deep run.
