Cloverdale:
Cooper Neese
6’4 – SG – 2017
This was probably the best high school game I’ve seen Neese play since his freshman year. He was really effective in the game and not just scoring the ball. First game it did not seem like he wanted to score every possession, which is not a bad thing for him. He was much quicker than everyone else on the court. He attacked the rim hard on the glass and had the best court vision I have seen all year from him. Neese looked like a Butler guy in this game. – 31 points (11-17), 15 rebounds, 5 assists, 7 steals
Jalen Moore
5’8 – PG – 2018
Moore ran the point very well. He was the guy who had the ball in pressure and only had 3 turnovers despite being pressured very hard. He took those good shots in the game and absorbed contact in the paint. Only was blocked once which points to his playmaking skills with a 6’9 guy in the paint he is running at. Moore is a good high school point guard and will only get better in the next two years. – 13 points, 8 assists
Jake Wilkes
6’0 – SF – 2019
In his second full year playing basketball Wilkes is starting to come into his own and you can see he understands the game better now than at the beginning of the year. He was efficient going 7-9 and scoring 16 points. Great pick and roll guy and that is where he hit most of his shots. He is not big but not small and is very long so chances are he will grow. He did a great job on Sappingfield as the main guy on him. Interesting to see how he will develop in the next 4 years. – 16 points, 4 rebounds
West Vigo:
Austin Sappingfield
6’9 – PF – 2016
Sappingfield did not take advantage of the height difference like I thought he would but he was still pretty effective. He grabbed 12 rebounds, 7 offensive but could not finish at the rim going 3-15 on the night for 8 points. He played inside more than I have seen him but never really took the ball to the basket, something he could have done easily with the tallest guy on the floor inside 6’1. He needs to play inside more than he does and look to get layups but all of the skills are there. – 8 points, 12 rebounds
Corey Vickers
5’10 – PG – 2016
I have seen Vickers drop 35 and I have seen him struggle. Tonight was a struggle for him as he went 3-12 and just could not get anything going to the rim as I have seen before. He does have a nice looking shot and could impact games more if he were to look to catch and shoot rather than trying to create. Vickers would be a nice add for a team looking for a pure shooter. – 16 points, 2 assists
