The Dowling product holds one offer right now fro North Dakota, and says other schools are showing heavy interest, and could be soon to offer – maybe this summer.
“I have a lot of good looks, they just want to wait until I get a little bit older to offer – maybe this summer actually,” said the 6-foot-4 combo guard.
“A lot of Midwest schools, and a little bit for the west coast and a little bit from the east coast. I get mail from Virginia Tech a lot, Iowa State has just hopped back on for the first time since Fred Hoiberg left, and then Nebraska and Creighton – those are the top schools recruiting me right now.”
Though he has not yet taken any visits, he says he plans to when his sophomore season concludes.
“Really right now it’s been a lot of emails and stuff like that. Nebraska called and wants me to come down for a visit, and a couple of the other schools want me to come for a visit. I’ll probably wait a little bit and go see a couple of those schools during spring break, or shortly after spring break.”
And then he’ll be on to his 16U grassroots season, a spring and summer that will critical for his recruitment.
In the past Ingoli has played exclusively with Iowa Elite; he says this season he’ll be splitting his time.
“Iowa Elite probably a little bit, I know I’m going to be playing in a couple tournaments with the Barnstormers for sure, I’ll be playing with Iowa Elite and Barnstormers both,” said Ingoli, who says he’s being recruited as a combo guard right now.
“A lot of the colleges that talk to me will recruit me as a one or a two because I’m extremely big for a one, and colleges like me as a two because I can score and facilitate too,” said Ingoli.
Passing has always been a strength of Ingoli’s, and on the court he’s versatile, he can adapt to any situation.
“I’ve just been working on my shot a lot more, I just like to play my game based upon my surroundings,” he said. “For Iowa Elite they need me as a scorer, so I try to score more. And for Dowling I have a lot of shooters around me and I have a 6-foot-10 center with me, so I just try and use my passing game to get the guys around me good looks.”
As a sophomore with one of the state’s best teams, Ingoli is asked to be more of a game manager than a superstar. He’s alright with that role.
“I just facilitate. I don’t lead the team in scoring or anything like that. I’ll get my points, but at the end of the day it’s all about getting us a win,” said Ingoli. “And just knowing when we’re struggling in some area I’m just trying to pick it up. I’ll also guard the other team’s best player every game.”
