Recruiting Report: David Ugochukwu (2017)
Parkville 2017 David Ugochukwu – a Crusader Nation product – is yet to see his recruitment startup just yet, but is confident that this summer will be the start of the process.
He says he’ll once again play with Crusader Nation for his 17U season, and is confident in his ability to generate some college interest.
“Not really anything yet, I’m still wading through the recruitment process,” said Ugochukwu.
“I feel as though if I just keep working hard and keep helping my team win games this summer, I’ll be able to showcase my skills as much as I can, and it won’t be too much of a problem to get schools to look at me because they’ll want to see me.”
A 6-foot-1 small forward, Ugochukwu told PHM that he feels comfortable playing on the perimeter, and in the post.
“I’d say my strengths are mainly on the defensive end of the floor, I’m an aggressive defender. And my rebounding is one thing I believe I contribute well to my team – getting rebounds and putbacks. And then being able to work in the post is something I’ve really been working on,” he said.
“I can attack the basket from the wing effectively, and I can hold my own in the post against the trees.”
Ugochukwu added: “I want to continue to work on my outside shot and my range a little more, just so I can make the defense make a choice about how they guard me.”
With his junior season winding down, the talented 2017 says he’s happy with the way he’s played this winter.
“My role on the team is to be aggressive in the paint, and try to gather as many rebounds as I can, and putbacks, and try and get to the line,” said Ugochukwu. “And I feel like I’ve done pretty well at that this season so far.”
