Missouri Player of the Week: 12/28 – 1/2
There were some outstanding performances in the Show-Me State during the holiday tournament season. Here are the candidates for Player of the Week:
Aaron Cook (Westminster): The 6’2″ senior averaged 24 points a game in leading the Wildcats to the MICDS Tournament title. He scored 34 in the championship game against Francis Howell.
Michael Hughes (Liberty North): The 6’9″ senior was the Most Valuable Player of the William Jewell Tournament Cardinal Division. Had 23 points and 15 rebounds in a 59-48 victory over Rockhurst in the championship game.
Jared Ridder (Kickapoo): The junior forward averaged 21 points a game in leading the Chiefs to the Blue Division championship of the Blue and Gold Tournament in Springfield.
Xavier Sneed (Hazelwood Central): The 6’6″ senior averaged 21 points a game in leading the Hawks to the championship of the Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament at Meramec.
Blake Spellman (Lee’s Summit): The senior guard was the Most Valuable Player of the William Jewell Tournament Patterson Division. Scored 22 points in a 73-50 victory over Park Hill in the championship game.
Fred Thatch (Sikeston): The 6’3″ sophomore led the Bulldogs to the championship of the St. Dominic Tournament. Had 20 points and 18 rebounds in the championship game victory over St. Dominic.
Kobe Wands (Rolla): The senior guard led the Bulldogs to the championship of the Rolla Holiday Invitational. Scored 21 points in the championship game victory over Waynesville.
Al Young (Cape Giarardeau Central): The 6’2″ senior guard averaged 22 points a game in leading the Tigers to the championship of the Southeast Missourian Christmas Tournament.
