Coming into this one, it was one of the premiere Class 1A match-ups of the season. Liberty came in ranked #1, while they hosted #10 Gary 21st Century, lead by Northern Illinois commit, Eugene German. German is a player who can put up some points (recently had 51 against LaLumiere). He made sure to not disappoint as his team took on the #1 team in the state Fridaynight.
This was a game of runs the whole way. 21st would get their lead up to about 6 or 8 before Liberty would storm back to tie it up. Liberty was lead by a 3-man attack of Greg Dixon, Ronny Williams and Franklin Nunn. The trio pretty much did it all, on both ends. Dixon lead the way with 25 points, most of those coming in the paint and finishing through contact. Williams finished with 20, despite getting a lot of points in transition and from the perimeter, Williams was a defensive catalyst and facilitated Liberty’s offense very well by getting his teammates some great looks. Nunn ended up with 16 points and although he struggled to find his shot throughout most of the game, he did a lot of little things that added up to help LC pull of the big win.
