C Makur Puou (Vincennes – Sophomore)
At 6’9” Puou is a force on the interior without even scoring. It starts with what he does on the glass. Puou consistently clears the defensive glass with quickness and high pointing the ball. He goes out of his area to rebound and tracks the ball well coming off the rim. Can score offensively hitting the offensive boards for put backs. He was a complete beast rebounding! Puou is also a presence as a rim protector coming from the weakside blocking and altering shots on a regular basis. Offensively he was tentative early, but as the game went on he got more comfortable. He hit a 12 foot jumper and was more active inside. Overall still raw offensively. Solid looking free throw stroke. Runs the floor tremendously well. Puou had 11 points 16 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Mid-major post prospect.
PF Darren Groves (Vincennes – Sophomore)
Groves stands at 6’7” with a wide body. He is a space eater on the interior that also has good length. He displayed a nice right handed hook shot when on the block and is a quality area rebounder. Passes well on the interior for a big. Finished with 6 points and 6 boards. Low-major/D2 post.
SF/PF Justin King (Vincennes – Sophomore)
King returned back to KC where he played his freshman season. The 6’7” combo forward has good strength and works best out of the mid to high post area. Likes to play facing up where he can handle it, pass, and shoot although his jumper tends to be streaky. Makes quick and aggressive cuts on the interior for buckets. Strong with the ball in transition. He had 5 points. King is a low-major/D2 prospect.
SG Nate Hansen (Vincennes – Freshman)
This 6’4” freshman can really shoot the basketball! He did just that against Kaskaskia. Hansen is a sharp shooter with a high release point, but he gets it off very quickly with lots of elevation. He is money off the catch as he drilled several that way as well as looking smooth pulling up off the bounce and in transition. Solid passer and pesky defender. D1 shooter down the line. Hansen had 17 points.
PG Jeremiah Bell (Vincennes – Freshman)
Bell is a 6’0” lead guard that has been a go to scorer for Vincennes, but was more of a distributor especially early. Pushes it well in transition and is a sound shooter pulling up off the bounce from mid-range and three. Strong with the ball and very athletic. Hit lots of free throws down the stretch. He had 12 points.
PG Jacob Timmerman (Kaskaskia – Sophomore)
Timmerman played well for Kaskaskia. The 6’1” point guard is a crafty guard that plays with toughness. He has good strength and uses hesitation to keep the defense off balance and get in the lane. Got in the paint consistently where he either scored or was fouled. Fearless attacking the hoop! Potential on jump shot especially when moving off the ball. Timmerman had 13 points.
SG Joffery Brown (Kaskaskia – Freshman)
Brown was quiet in the first half, but heated up as the game went along. At 6’2” the freshman standout from Chicago has a strong body. He is best bullying his way to the hoop using his strength to finish on the interior. Strong attacking off the bounce going downhill. He can also hit a pull up 15 foot jumper with regularity. Brown had 17 points most of them coming in the second half.
SF Steven Julian (Kaskaskia – Freshman)
Julian is a 6’6” small forward that is a big time athlete with an angular frame. He is quick on the interior and a very good rebounder for a wing. Offensively he flashes using his athleticism and even hit a wing three, but it isn’t consistent yet. Sometimes plays too fast and out of control. Julian has D1 potential down the line. Will be interesting to follow his development over the next year. He had 10 points.
