There were multiple times throughout the evening where it looked as though Linn-Mar was going to run away with the game and make it a blowout. They had a 13-point lead with just over a minute to play in the second quarter before Cedar Falls closed on a quick 4-0 run to close it to nine at the break.
The hot streak continued for Cedar Falls to start the third quarter, scoring 14 points in the first 4:00 of the quarter, to close the Linn-Mar lead to 42-40. Linn-Mar ended the quarter on a 15-4 run to extend the lead back to 13.
Cedar Falls closed to within three with three minutes left, then Jordan Brandt hit a huge 3, followed by a steal and a layup to push it back to 64-56. Cedar Falls never had a chance to make another run to get closer.
Linn-Mar (6-2, 5-0) was led by Iowa signee Jordan Bohannon, who had 21 points. Jordan Brandt added 19 and seven rebounds, and Jared Printy had 15. There were times throughout the evening that Brandt stole the show, making plays on both ends of the floor at clutch times.
Cedar Falls (5-3, 2-3) was led by Tra’Von Fagan with 19 points. A.J. Green added 18 and Isaiah Johnson had 10.
