The Woodlawn Shootout is a great way to kick the season off for eight teams. With LHSAA season underway finally, teams will have a chance to play in a high intensity match-up each night as there is something on the line. The first match-up of the day was between Helen Cox and Tara.

Cox led by 17 at half but the fun was just beginning. Tara used quick runs to slowly chip away at the lead and found themselves within striking distance late. Cox's struggles from the free throw line (16/35) opened the door numerous times but they were able to hang on to a 59-53 victory. ULL signee Roydell Brown and sophomore Terrance Joseph had 18 a piece to lead the way while Tara had 3 in double digits including their floor general J Bell.

The next match-up was quite the opposite as Destrehan only led Vandebilt Catholic by 4 heading into halftime (32-28) before using a double digit run to start the 3rd to take control. The final score ended up 68-49 in favor of Destrehan. Their athleticism and size became too much. Junior guard David Green ended up with 24 points after a slow start. Seniors Palmer Hill and Ross Reaves had 17 and 15 respectively to lead Vandebilt
