Heck, what's next, tweets when they are at the mall? At Outback Steakhouse? Anyway, enough preseason stuff, the Eagles finally start defending their title tonight against Chanhassen. This weekend they take on Minnetonka in a girl/boy double heaader
- Hopkins. The year started with a beatdown of Kennedy and continues tonight against Lakeville South which would be a better game if Jack Sorenson is able to play. This weekend they play big numbers Class A school Fond du Lac Ojibwe.
- Wayzata. Trojans really testing themselves early with non conference games against Lakeville North and Robbinsdale Armstrong. 14 of their 26 games are against teams ranked in the Breakdown preseason top 15 (the Breakdown books ship today).
- Maple Grove. Game one of the year is Friday against Andover. Maple Grove plays Wayzata and Hopkins plays Apple Valley so that Tip Off Classic is going to have some very important early season battles.
- Tartan. The Titans play Como Park to start the year. I told you about Wayzata and the ranked teams they play, I'm looking at Tartan's schedule and they play two extremely good out of state teams in Linn Mar and Eau Clairie. The Tartan tournament has Centennial and Lakeville South among others and I like the end of the season playoff warm up with Edina.
- Champlin Park's coaches will likely be at Armstrong/Wayzata tonight as the Rebels face the Falcons this Friday. Greg Miller's club with a challenging week one.
- Eden Prairie. This Saturday the Eagles open their year with Burnsville.
- Lakeville North. The Panthers travel to Rochester playing Century this evening and then play Wayzata on Saturday.
- Rochester JM. The 22 game Big Nine schedule starts Saturday against Century. JM's four non-conference games are against Shakopee, their two Rotary Classic opponents, and I think the MN Scores schedule is missing their other game.
- Shakopee. The Sabers open against Woodbury tonight.
Outside Looking In
- Only 21 of the 64 teams in Class AAAA have played yet so not much we can do with who is deserving of a spot that is not in the rankings yet.
- Minnetonka is 11th and they have Blaine and Apple Valley this week.
- Farmington has a nice 2-0 start and after what they lost that's great for them.
- Lakeville South beat New Prague 59-51. There was a report of a loftier score so need to get that out there. Good win for the Cougars who were missing their best player.
- Blaine beat Big Lake by 16 in preparation for their game with Tonka this evening.
