- Minnehaha Academy. Won their opener by five against Henry Sibley as Jalen Suggs scored 17 points and Jake Richardson had a dozen. No JaVonni Bickham listed in the box score after game and he is not listed on the state roster for some reason. We've heard he played and was in foul trouble though.
- St. Croix Lutheran. Ade Lamu had 26 in the opener beating New Life Academy by 26. The Crusaders now run a gauntlet of: Minnehaha, St. Thomas, Mpls Roosevelt, Mpls North, St. Paul Academy, Braham, Waseca, and St. Clair before the holiday event. Wow. Nobody in Class AA has a run of games like that.
- Braham. Won 99-41 and have four more league games that they will smash without much of an issue before playing the Crusaders at the Tip Off Classic. Hard not to look at the StCL slate and Braham schedule and not think about which one will be more prepped schedule wise although there is likely nothing the Bombers can do about it.
- Caledonia. Fresh off another football state title they beat up Fillmore Central 90-47 in the opener. They have a week off now to rest up a bit before a run of four road games.
- St. Paul Academy. Wins over Edison, St. Croix Prep, and Lourdes with a sure thing coming this weekend against New Life Academy. Kent Hanson giving 20 a game and they Spartans have received 28 points in three games from surprise senior Angel Smaller.
- Lake City. Beat Cotter and Chatfield to start the year and are now off for a week before playing a key game at Pine Island next Tuesday. The Brady Kuchinka vs Broc Finstuen dynamic will be fun
- Esko. Good first challenge from Pequot Lakes followed by a smashing of MLWR. Hermantown, Cathedral, and Superior is their next three games so challenges are coming.
- Maple River. Crushed Hayfield and Sibley East, now they are off until next week. Will Keller has 36 points in his first two games, good start for Keller.
- Albany. Despite senior losses they handled New London-Spicer by 19 points only allowing 34 points through the net. They are off for another week of practice before the schedule starts to flow.
