Potential Top Ten in State: CDH
The Raiders are loaded athletically. There is so much explosive bounce on this team to go with an up and coming division one caliber frontcourt player in Daniel Oturo, they are likely to win this league despite all the heavy losses to graduation. They will suffer more losses than last year but this team will still be at the top in the Suburban East and I think they will win it by multiple games. With Oturo, Jalan Ousley-Brown, Jordan Ammons, Chris Perry, Deland Phillips, and others, there are athletes all over.
Compete with Most: Mounds View, East Ridge, Woodbury, Stillwater
Mounds View lost four starters but does bring back the 15 points per game of Nate Albers and a few bench players. East Ridge brings back a couple frontcourt players but lost everything else. They will be helped by the play of freshman standout Courtney Brown Jr and a few other players moving up from the JV. Woodbury lost 20 games a year but brings back just about everything and a league that has lost as much as the SEC has, the Royals could make a huge jump. Especially with Jeremiah Coddon, Michael Carter, and Trent West leading the youth. Stillwater returns four players from their rotation but lost their top producers from an underachieving team.
Rebuilding: Roseville, Forest Lake, White Bear Lake, Park
Roseville lost just about everything from last year besides Henry Benson so it’s tough to know what new Coach Kevin McKenzie will have at the start. Considering all they lost, it will be rebuilding but is that rebuilding a new line-up with upperclassmen from the JV and they are ready to go quickly? Or is this a fresh start with young talent? Forest Lake has Noah Alm back and not much else from a team that was a few games under average, White Bear Lake lost everything, and Park of Cottage Grove continues to struggle.
