PHK’s 90th-ranked 2016, Tyler Bezold is starting to see some serious recruitment come his way from a pair of Division III schools.
“I’ve gotten a couple letters, mainly Otterbein (OH) has called me, Transylvania, Thomas More, and Mount St. Joseph. I’ve talked on the phone with Thomas More and Otterbein, and I’ve gotten letters from the other two,” said Bezold, who mentioned which two schools have been most pursuant.
“I visited Otterbein, and I’m scheduled to take a visit to Thomas More soon. I really like the tradition at Otterbein, and I really like their coach, he made me feel real welcome, and I really feel I could fit in up there.”
The 6-foot-3 shooting guard spent his spring and summer playing with Kentucky Select, and says he was able to focus on parts of his game he otherwise wouldn't.
“I thought I did really well distributing the ball, and we had a really good shooting team, so I still shot a lot but not as much as I usually do. So I was able to work on distributing the ball a lot more, and rebounding, and our coach really stressed defense a lot so I was able to improve that as well,” said Bezold, who mentioned his playing style to PHK.
“My strengths are definitely shooting and passing. And I’d probably say I need to continue working on my defense and footwork, I worked on it pretty hard this summer and I saw some improvement, but I need to get better. And probably ball-handling too.”
With his senior season at Holy Cross just on the horizon, Bezold is ready to take full control of the team this season.
“My role has changed where I’ll have to really step-up and be a full-on leader as a senior,” he said. “I’ll have to take the underclassmen under my wing to really help this team perform, and I think we could have some really good things happen.”
