Continue ReadingAt Shadow Mountain High School it wouldn't take long to find a talented college-bound basketball player. This dates back to the 90's when head coach Jerry Conner (now at Horizon) walked the sidelines. Today head coach Mike Warren, and associate head coach Mike Bibby find themselves with a loaded team, filled with players like Michael Bibby Jr, & JJ Rhymes who already won a state championship before with Shadow. Looking ahead to the 2015-16 season the Matadors are looking to yet another state title. Since their first state title as a class the team has added talented players like Bryce Fisher and 6'8 Isaiah Jones.
Jones transferred prior to the 2014-15 season from Dallas, Texas. Jones is also a football star at Shadow Mountain and has heard from programs like Arizona, & Boise State. However Jones also is beginning to hear from others for hoops as well.
Jones enjoys playing at Shadow Mountain, he said, “the team is a big family, he enjoys playing with Mike Bibby, JJ Rhymes & Bryce Fisher among others.”
Jones had a very successful July playing for Houston Hoops & Montverde. In the spring Jones also played with Team Bibby.
Isaiah strongly feels that Shadow Mountain is going to “win state.”
Basketball wise, Jones is hearing from Dixie State, Cal Poly Pomona, Wright State, Cornell & NAU. Jones is keeping all of his options open but he would love to play on the east coast. Jones makes it very clear he wants to be a great student and not just an athlete. He wants to make sure whichever school he ends up at, provides “plenty of academic support to their athletes, as well as play on a team that plays together as a team and have a coaching staff who will help me develop into a better player.
