At a new school, healthy, and improved, Dundalk power forward Carl Bradley is ready to make himself known.
The 6-foot-6 stretch-four was unable to play his freshman season while at New Town after he was involved in a car accident, and didn't get much exposure during his sophomore and junior season while playing with the JV.
Now a senior with the Owls, Bradley is projecting to start, and feels he’s poised to add to his current short list of schools that are recruiting him.
“Salisbury and Susquehanna (PA), I went to their camp earlier in the year, they’ve been interested in me. And then Morgan State has shown some interest, and Shenandoah (VA),” said Bradley, who has taken visits to two of the interested schools — Salisbury, and Susquehanna.
“I plan on taking another visit to Salisbury again, I met their coach, but I want to go down and see a game and see what the atmosphere is like,” said Bradley. “It’s kind of in between Salisbury and Susquehanna who are most interested, but I’d say Salisbury has been has been contacting me the most.”
Bradley says his recruitment is something he thinks about often.
“It is a major factor in my life; I think about it all the time,” he said. “During this year I hope to gain some more interest, or hopefully an offer from a Division II or Division I school. My junior year I didn't get much time, and my freshman year I didn't play because I was coming off a major car accident. So I’m ready to go this season.”
During the offseason Bradley split his time between Crusader Nation and DC Premier. He says he’s been working hard to move out to the perimeter with his game.
“What I did mainly well was rebounding and I started scoring more, and I really started improving my ball-handling and shooting of course. I used to play the five in middle school and JV, and then I realized that I’m not going to be like 6-foot-10, so I have to start playing more of a three or stretch-four,” he said.
“I mainly need to work on my ball-handling, it’s almost there but it’s not completely there. And then me and my dad worked on my shooting a lot this summer, and put up about 300 shots a day.”
With just one season of high school ball left, Bradley decided a switch to Dundalk would grant him more opportunities, in more ways than one.
“It was just a better opportunity at Dundalk. The coach at New Town, he was the man, and we worked well together. It’s just I felt like Dundalk had a little more opportunity, and It’s better academic-wise,” he said.
“This year my main goal is to score, rebound, pretty much do everything, and just being a great team player. The chemistry with the guys is great, I’ve known most of them for the last few years, and I will be starting, and I’m hoping to be a captain as well.”
