Brenton Jarrow may be one of the state’s best players you don’t know about. Jarrow currently isn’t an academic qualifier which deems him as one of the state’s top Junior College prospects. With his ability to play inside and out a lot of coaches should be calling.
We asked Brenton some questions to gauge some thoughts about his game.
“I feel that some strong points in my game are my ability to attack the basket and my jump shooting. Also my ability to pass the ball.”
So far only a couple of Juco’s have expressed interest in Brenton.
“Not that many colleges have reached out to me. I have talked to a couple coaches. I have talked to Alabama Southern and Howard College so far.”
Brenton believes that if he becomes a better ball handler and dribbler he can be wing at the next level.
“One thing that I am going to really be working on this fall is my defense, I want to become a better defender around the perimeter and also ball handling.”
He has a good mindset on the court knowing what his coach wants of him.
“During games on the offensive end of the floor I try to focus on attacking the rim and knocking down open jump shots. Defensively I try to focus on staying out of foul trouble and protecting the rim.”
The team’s leader scorer moved on to the junior college ranks so he must step up this year.
“This high school season my role has changed big time, my coach is looking for me to put up some good numbers and be a leader on the floor.”
Brenton has the size and athleticism to do a lot on the basketball court.
“I'm currently 6'6” and I feel that one thing I did this summer that impressed coaches is my ability to put the ball on the floor and attack the rim. Also, my jump shooting.”
Brenton doesn’t have the grades he wants and most likely will have to make it through junior college before hopefully continuing his career at a four year school.
“My core GPA is a 2.1 and I haven't taken the ACT yet but I am taking the next test.”
