“Right now I’m 50-50, I’m just keeping it open, and seeing which one I like best,” said Rose, a 6-foot-2 wing and wide receiver.
So far he’s heard from just two basketball programs, but still has his senior season to emerge.
“Just Simpson and Dordt right now for basketball,” he said. “They text me and Simpson visited me at school the other day, and then they’ve called a couple of times.”
He’s seen some Division II interest for football, from the likes of Sioux Falls, Augustana, and Minnesota State-Mankato.
Rose claims that he’s not thinking a lot about his recruitment right now, he’s more intent on enjoying his final season of high school hoops.
“I’m not really thinking about recruiting a lot, I’m just trying to focus on my team and season and try and have a lot of fun with that because it will be my last one,” said Rose.
The athletic guard spent his offseason sharpening his hoops skills while playing with a supremely talented Kingdom Hoops Elite squad.
“I think I just did well with being a good teammate, I came off the bench and was a role player. I liked to think I made a positive influence on everyone and tried to keep everyone together. I also think I became more consistent with my jump-shot, that’s something I worked on a lot,” said Rose, who defined his playing style to PHI.
“I feel like I play pretty good defense, and I pass the ball pretty well, and I run the fastbreak pretty well. I’m trying to do a lot of the little things that help my team win.”
Rose added: “I’m trying to be a better ball-handler and a more consistent shooter obviously, which is what I was working on this summer — those would really add to my game.”
With his senior season set to begin in just days, the veteran Warrior says leadership will be his key role.
“I’ll have to pick up more of a leadership role, and I’ll have to do a lot more scoring than I did last year,” said Rose. “I’ll have to make sure people are locked in and focused every night, that type of role.”
