Before we start this there are a couple things we need to clarify:
- NSIC gets a lot of transfers from the D1 and junior college level but that doesn’t happen until after the season most of the time. Those are of course not included in this list. This is just an early signing day list. There will also be several other high school talents to sign with the NSIC in the spring
- Some of these kids do not have full scholarships. NSIC coaches have to mix and match when it comes to scholarship numbers sometimes so you have guys with partials that range from a lot, to not that much, and everything in between.
- We are not going to list who got partials and who did not. That is not what this is about. We are just going through who got what as far as talent goes.
- The individual rankings we refer to here come from the Prep Hoops sites in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Illinois, and Iowa while the Wisconsin rankings come from WisHoops.net.
Team Rankings
-
Concordia-St. Paul. It’s been a long time since the Golden Bears had a group of signed talent like this. Coach Joey James nabbed the 8th ranked player in Wisconsin Max Keefe, the 3rd ranked South Dakota talent Sam Siganos, the 10th ranked Iowa recruit Levi Jansen, and Minnesota’s 13th ranked player Carter Brooks.
-
Augustana. The Vikings are an elite division two program and based on what they just signed they are about to stay near the top. Six-foot-8 Andy Kerkman is the second ranked player in Nebraska, guard Levi Jansen is the 8th ranked player in Iowa, and Lucas Walford is the 14th ranked player in Minnesota. Between Kerkman, Walford, and top 30 in Minnesota talent Bodey Behrends you have three bigs coming into the program that were wanted by several programs.
-
Minnesota-Duluth. The Bulldogs grabbed a top 30 potential kid in Trenton Krueger from St. Croix Lutheran in Minnesota and a top 50 big from the Land of 10,000 Lakes named Ben Scherer from Blaine. In Wisconsin they did a great job landing a pair of top 15 kids in Logan Rohrscheib from Eau Claire and Brand Myer from Superior. Logan is an excellent shooter while Myer is tough in all ways. They also added Brant Schick from Washburn in Wisconsin.
-
Winona State. Coach Todd Eisner was Minnesota heavy in his first months as Warrior head man. Assistant coach Zach Malvik recruited the Minnesota players through the Mike Leaf days, into the summer days when there was no coach, and into the fall. The Warriors signed Dalante Peyton and Sam Baker and has since added seven footer Charlie Irmger. All three are top 30 prospects in Minnesota with Peyton at 20, Irmiger at 25, and Baker at 30.
-
U of Sioux Falls. Coach Chris Johnson picked up a four man class of talent that starts with their additions in Iowa. Power Forward Devin Green is the 18th ranked player in Iowa and joining him is top 50 talent is David Wedewer, a point guard who has been a part of a couple state titles. From Minnesota is likely their top grab and that is Austin Slater from Wayzata. Slater is ranked 16th in Minnesota and had several in the NSIC watching him close. USF stayed in town to get their fourth addition who is Tristan Teichmeier from Sioux Falls Roosevelt. Tristan is the 6th ranked player in South Dakota.
-
Northern State. Coach Sather’s class is two strong but it’s quite strong for two guys. Cole Dahl of Northern Freeze High School in Minnesota is the 11th ranked prospect in the state while Gabe King of South Dakota is the 5th ranked prospect in South Dakota. Grabbing Dahl was huge as Cole had double figure D2 offers.
-
Minnesota State-Moorhead. The Dragons received signatures from four players. Guard Evan Hines is a top 50 talent from talent rich Illinois, South Dakota big Ben Lauer is a top ten player from his state, and backcourt duo Chris Olson and Johnny Beeninga are top 40 players from Minnesota. Olson ranks at 35, Beeninga at number 21.
-
Bemidji State. The Beavers made the decision to hit Wisconsin heavily and it’s worked out in their favor. Forward Logan Bader and guard Peyton Dibble are both top 20 ranked kids in Wisconsin with Bader at 17 and Dibble at 19. All five are ranked Wisconsin talents with the best of the group (Dibble and Bader) coming from the Wisconsin Jets Grassroots program.
-
U of Mary. New Coach Joe Kittel only had a few scholarships to give but he made good use of them by signing the third best player in North Dakota Connor Hellebust and a top 30 kid from Delano, Minnesota Matt Kreklow. Hellebust is a big area grab while Kreklow, ranked 29th, is a player that had multiple D2 offers.
-
SW MN State. The Mustangs added to guys this spring including the number one player in North Dakota Braedan Hanson and a top 50 kid from Minnesota, Nick Dufault. Hanson is a versatile forward who can defend and is skilled while Dufault is a local play maker from Waconia with a strong stroke.
-
Minnesota-Crookston. UMC grabbed a highly ranked class last year and had to rebuild nearly the entire roster in about a half year so they didn’t have many to give this fall. They did grab a top 40 player from Wisconsin named Harrison Cleary who is a shooter that played with Playground Elite of the EYBL.
-
Upper Iowa. Upper Iowa added the 34th ranked player in Iowa Tristan Bohr who is a 6-foot-4 small forward from Crestwood. Bohr was also just named an all district punter on the football field.
-
Minot State. The Beavers added just one player in the spring and that is 6-foot-9 Zimmerman big man Kody Dwyer. Dwyer is a hard working post who began to blossom this summer with the Comets second elite team. When NHR resorts the rankings Dwyer will be a top 50 prospect in the state.
-
Wayne State. The lone signed Wayne State player that we are aware of is Iowa small forward Ryan Hawkins. Hawkins is listed as the 47th ranked player in his state and at 6-foot-4 he can play both wing spots.
-
Minnesota State-Mankato. We are not aware of them signing anybody in this class at the moment.
-
St. Cloud State. We are not aware of them signing anybody in this class at the moment.
