IBCA Announces Player of the Week
Each week of the season, IBCA announces their Subway/IBCA Player of the Week from each region of the state based on nominations. Here are the three region winners in Week 1. Here is a portion of the press release from the IBCA.
Jaylen Butz – Jr – Fort Wayne North
The 6-9 Butz unloaded for 34 points and 18 rebounds as Fort Wayne North rolled to a 94-34 victory over Irvington Prep in its only game of the week, a game where teammate Devontae Kinnie produced 10 points, 10 rebounds and 14 assists.
Desmond Bane – Sr – Seton Catholic
Bane, a 6-5 forward, opened his week by scoring 29 points with 12 rebounds and 10 assists as Seton Catholic posted an 82-38 victory over National Trail (Ohio). He followed by pouring in 42 points with 14 rebounds and five assists in propelling the Cardinals past Centerville 66-58. Over the two games, Bane sank 28-of-42 field goals, 2-of-9 3-pointers and 13-of-15 free throws.
Braxton Day – Sr – Bedford North Lawrence
Day, a 6-1 forward, poured in 38 points with seven rebounds as Bedford North Lawrence began its season with a 71-54 triumph over Bloomington North. His output, which included 18 points in the fourth quarter, came on 14-of-19 shots, 1-of-3 3-pointers and 9-of-10 free throws.
