Morgan State got some muscle for the 2016-17 season when it recently got a commitment from Tyjhai Byers, a 6-foot-10, 190-pound center from Bethesda-Chevy Chase High in Montgomery County.
The Bears like to control the pace of the game under coach Todd Bozeman but they need some more help inside. Byers should give them that.
“He has blossomed into a great rebounder and a tremendous shot blocker,” said B-CC coach Sean Tracy in a Morgan State press release. “He is very passionate about the game and yearns to get better every time he steps on the court.”
Byers played a big role in helping B-CC make it to the state title game last winter. He averaged 11 points, seven rebounds and even four blocks as the Barons ended up 21-6.
Morgan State should be a good fit for him because he's got size and can run.
