He's the razzle-dazzle in Iowa high school hoops, and his showmanship was ramped-up a notch at this event. His elite speed and passing make him one of the state's best point guards. He proved Saturday that his 104th-ranking is likely too low — he looked more like a top-50 player from 2016.
2016 Shammond Ivory, Perry, 6’1 PG
He started slow in the morning sessions, but erupted in the afternoon games and was simply dominant when he wanted to be. He was the highest-ranked 2016 at the event, and he looked every bit as good as his No. 13 ranking would suggest.
2018 Sebit Kallo, Des Moines Lincoln, 6’3 SF
We saw Kallo play in the summer, and he's already much-improved in that short amount of time. The slasher was having no trouble getting to the rim throughout the day, and his great length allowed him to finish well when he got there.
2018 Rhett Darland, Clarion-Goldfield, 6’2 SG
Darland was certainly one of the best pure scorers at the event, and he was not shying away from letting it fly from deep — which was OK, because he connected on them more often than not.
2018 Jonathan Herrick, Boone, 6’6 SF
Herrick was the highest-ranked 2018 at the event, and he proved on Saturday that he has a very bright future. Tall, long, and a versatile skill-set, he should be very, very good for Boone these next three seasons.
2016 Jake Kluender, Spencer, 6’6 SF
He was a human highlight reel all day, and was the beneficiary of three perfect alley-oop passes from teammate Illg. His fourth dunk was the most impressive, straight up, no steps, monster-slam. He's as athletic as they come, and can hurt you in many other ways too.
