Keuth was stuck behind a bevy of seniors last winter, and still came on strong towards the end of the season. He was great this offseason while developing as more a wing than a post. Expect the rangy and athletic 6-foot-5 small forward to put up big numbers this season with the Roughriders.
2017, Brayden Washington, Urbandale
He was playing with Urbandale’s sophomores last season. But with five senior starters graduating from the J-Hawks 2014-15 squad, there will be some new faces with the varsity, and Washington looks to be one of the key guys to take the torch.
2017, Connor Kasperbauer, Ankeny Centennial
Like the others on this list, Kasperbauer was playing behind a very strong and deep senior class last season. Centennial started five seniors most of the season, and Kasperbauer gained valuable experience coming off the bench as sophomore. This season the Jaguars will be led by the 6-foot-4 junior.
2018, Sam Ingoli, Dowling
We’ve been singing his praises for over a year now, and he’s currently our 2nd-ranked 2018. He also has a Division I offer from North Dakota, and that’s without playing a lick of varsity basketball. This season as a sophomore it looks as though he’ll be starting with the Maroons' varsity, and it will be very interesting to see how he performs.
2017, Jailan Billings, Sioux City North
Last season it was Iowa Mr. Basketball Daniel Tillo’s team, this season the torch has been passed to point guard Jailan Billings. He showed glimpses of brilliance in his team’s narrow loss to Iowa City West last March’s state tournament. And he was great this offseason with All Iowa Attack Nike.
2016, Camry Moore, Waverly-Shell Rock
Like Billings, Moore was second-fiddle last season to Jake Velky at the guard spot. And though Northern Iowa commit Austin Phyfe will be the team’s go-to guy in the post, Moore will play a pivotal role in the Go-Hawks’ success as he tries to fill the void left by Velky.
