Sophomore SF Tray Jackson Looking To Take The Next Step

Though many will be focused on senior guard Ty Groce for Ypsilanti Lincoln this season, the Railsplitters actually have a handful of players expected to make an impact this year. The roster may be young, but with some development, it could be one of the better teams in the division.

One of the players who will be looking to take the next step is…

Recruiting Report: Matt Downey (2016)

Matt Downey, a standout Senior point guard of Boulder Creek High School, has made a lot of noise around Arizona during his career.

Downey currently possesses no offers; however, he has received new interest from “Knox College”. It is startling that he has not drawn a lot of interest at this point. He can do anything and everything a coach expects from a high school point guard. In addition, his grades are above impressive as he carries a “4.6 weighted…

Preseason All State: Class A (SD)

Prseason All State – First Team

Jacob Hinker, Lennox, Sr.  Took his team to state with a nasty average of 18 points and nearly 11 rebounds per game plus dished out three assists playing inside and out.  The 6-foot-3 playmaker can give you the skill, or give the horns busting through.

Chad Barkema, SF Christian, Sr. Chad is one of many SF Christian players that has PHD thinking they could win state.  He’s coming off of a…

2019 Watch List Introduction

The future of Iowa high school basketball has arrived in hallways and gyms at schools around the state, and our “watch list” freshman have been identified as the best of the bunch from their class.

Because the 2019s have had little exposure and no high school experience just yet, we've elected to make a watch list rather than rankings for the initial installment. Look for the first set of rankings to be released in the spring, after a season…

Region 8 Run Through

Teams

Belle Fourche:  6-foot-3 guard Breck Young scored 13.8 a game last year and returns for a team that needs some consistency.  Belle Fourche won just two games last year so having their top five guys back is crucial.  That also includes guard Jace Horman, now a senior, and juniors Louis Budmayr, Jon Peterson, and Jake O’Byrne.  O’Bryne stands 6-foot-4 and 245…

Class of 2018 Outlook

Many scouts and officials have deemed the class of 2018 as elite when discussing the state of Arizona.

While it is too early to project many of these players due to the amount of growth they will have in the next year or two in regards to their physical traits and basketball abilities, one thing’s for sure…this has the potential to be one of the more talent groups in recent history.

While he isn’t currently enrolled at an in-state high school we have…

Adnan Arslanagic Ready to Make a Name in the US

After a successful season in which they lost a close matchup to Blue Ridge in the VISAA Division 2 State Championship, Virginia Episcopal School seems poised for another breakout season with four of their starters returning. This week, every team who hasn't begun play will play but until then, we can only go off what we have. The games played difference isn't as large as it is in classes B and C but there are some teams who have begun noticeably earlier than others.

Recruiting Report: Cole Harshman (2017)

November 30, 2015

After making a recent transfer from St. Frances to Dulaney, junior wing Cole Harshman is hoping to see some more exposure and subsequently see his recruitment ramp-up.

The 6-foot-4 Maryland 3D product has heard little so far from college coaches, just from his father’s alma-mater.

“Just Salisbury, that’s about it. My dad went there and there’s a coach there that talked to me,” said…

Recruiting Report: Devonte Thedford (2018)

November 30, 2015

Still with a ton of promise, Hoover point guard Devonte Thedford has not yet begun to reach his potential as possibly one of the state’s best point guards.

The 6-foot sophomore was the lone freshman on Hoover’s roster last season, and learned the system and the Hoover way while playing behind a bevy of senior talent.

He played with Iowa Elite this past offseason, and was able to generate some college attention, but the…

Paul Millsap Basketball Classic: Game Recaps

Grambling Lab over Fairview

Grambling struggled early against the scrappy Fairview team but in the end they were just too much. Brennan Maddox, an LSU baseball commit, gave everything he had scoring at will. Kae Williams was just more then Fairview could handle though as he was named game MVP. Enrico Hayes made key plays in the second half to stretch out the lead and Tylan Dean kept making Fairview get out of zone…
