Jensen and the junior varsity earned those state medals with the daily battles but now he and 2015-16 teammates are ready for their varsity chance.
“I can't wait for this season,” Jensen said. “We had an incredible year last year, but now it's time for us seniors to show the state that Lincoln isn't done.
”Maturity and experience is going to be a big challenge this year, we only have five returning seniors, zero starters returning. We've got a great group of young guys ready to step up and play some big minutes this year. We know what we've got and we're hoping to turn some heads.”
Jensen and Carson Coulter will lead the upperclassmen while Dillon Barrow and Diang Gatlauk will lead the underclassmen. Dillon and Diang (who was at SF Roosevelt) are top five 2018 talents in South Dakota.
Jensen and Coulter spent some weekends together playing with BBA Force.
“Summer training helped me tremendously,” Jensen said. “For me personally my post game was a big emphasis, I already had a perimeter shot but fine tuning the post aspect was big.
“Not only did it improve my physical skills but it also boosted my confidence going into the season. Lots of blood, sweat and tears in the off-season but it'll pay off as we compete for a state title again this year.”
Jensen has also talked to a couple schools already as he begins to look into playing college basketball.
“I’ve been in contact with mostly Augustana, and Crown College in MN,” said Jensen. “I'll be attending the Scout Focus Elite 80 camp in Minneapolis next month where I'm hoping to get more exposure.”
PHD is likely to also be at the Scouts Focus event watching Tommy and other.
