A top-10 player in Florida’s 2017 class, Raiquan Gray had a big-time offseason with the Florida Vipers picking up six Division I offers.
San Francisco, FIU, Binghamton, Vermont, Virginia Tech, and most recently UAB are the six standing offers, and the 6-foot-7 forward says there’s a bevy of schools showing interest in him right now.
“Florida State, Florida, Louisiana Tech, FAU, and there’s a lot of other schools that are showing interest right now,” said the versatile junior.
While running with Florida Vipers this spring and summer, Gray says ball-handling and shooting were areas of emphasis for him.
“Where I improved is just becoming a more versatile player, my ball-handling and my shooting really improved. I feel like I can play the three or four now, it doesn’t matter,” said Gray, who characterized his style of play to PHF.
“I like to bring the ball up the court and create mismatches. I can drive and kick, and I can knock-down open shots, and get my teammates open too.”
“I would say I do need to be more consistent on the offensive end, and also I need to work on keeping a high-motor from start to finish.”
As he gets set for his junior season at Dillard, Gray looks forward to moving into a more productive role.
“Last year we had five senior starters and I was coming off the bench some of the season, and I started about 12 games,” said Gray. “I’ll have more of a leadership role this season, and I can play the two, three, or four, and just be versatile for us each night out.”
