Larenz Williams is a prospect who impressed us so much on day one of our PrepHoops Louisiana camp that we invited him to come the next day to compete with the big boys. Not only did he compete but he found himself back in the all-star game. Larenz is not only a great talent but an upstanding young man who is liked by all.
Larenz is going to have to make that transition from Junior High to High School but we know that won’t be an issue at all. He is currently ranked #2 in our 2019 class ranking. When we asked Larenz what he believes his strong points are he had this to say.
“I feel the strong points in my game are my scoring and defense. I'm a leader which I think is important in a great player.”
It is early on so schools haven’t reached out but once he is seen on the high school level that will change.
“As of now none have shown interest. I think the overtime I'm going to put in the gym is going to show otherwise.”
Larenz isn’t content on where his game currently stands. He is working hard to get better every day.
“This fall I want to work on strictly shooting and defense. Offensively I want to work on my midrange pull-up and my range. Defense I want to work on my on ball man to man.”
Larenz has a little ways to go in the mental aspect of the game which is scary to think about how much better he can potentially get.
“In games I usually try and work on my shooting, also different move when I come down the court to keep defender on heels. Defense I want to check the best player and giving him no room to breathe.”
Larenz doesn’t lack confidence when throwing out state championship.
“This season I feel I will have a huge role impacting my team. Making them better and bettering myself. I think we can win state.”
Larenz is a high major potential prospect.
“I'm 6'3 and I have a good midrange, getting to the basket with ease. I have handles and good passing. Also my leader role is the most valuable to me.”
