We caught up with the senior to see how he felt the experience went this past spring and summer on the grassroots circuit.
“Well my spring and summer was great. I feel that we could’ve played much better. We just weren’t clicking as a team and lost way too many games. But other than that it was great. I feel like I can score on anyone. There’s not a player who can guard me one on one. Also playing with Meanstreets just showed me how to compete!”
He is now back with his high school team playing open gym at Simeon as the Wolverines prepare for this upcoming season. He is also starting to focus on his recruitment more.
“Recruiting is going ok. I’ll probably make my decision somewhere in between December and January.”
What offers does he currently hold?
“Only Drake for now. Heavy interest from Valpo, Toledo, Wright State, UIC, Loyola, Western Illinois, and Indiana State but I’m sure I’ll raise for the season.”
He has one official visit coming up.
“Toledo on October 16.”
What stands out about Toledo?
“The program in general. I had a talk with Taylor Adway (Hillcrest 2015 power forward) he was just telling me how stuff was.”
Thomas recently had an in-home visit with Drake who is the first program to extend a scholarship offer.
“I feel that if I go there I can be a program changer. I love being the leader on a team. There’s no better feeling.”
He spoke about what he will be looking for in a program.
“Just a program where I can grow as a player and a person.”
