Continue ReadingThe class of 2017 is loaded with stellar wing prospects. One that continues to make a name for himself is Curie shooting guard Elijah Joiner. The guard is coming off a solid sophomore season at Curie and took it to the next level with Team Rose on the travel team circuit. He spoke with us about the experience playing up on the 17U level.
“It was a great experience playing up an age group and playing against some of the top players in the country.”
Joiner talked about where he felt his game developed the most.
“I feel that I am more of a leader on the court and physically I’ve been getting to the rim and finishing stronger.”
He is in the gym working hard with his Curie team in open gym in preparation for his junior season. The guard talked about what his role will be.
“This year my role is to be a leader on and off the court. Making sure I put my teammates in the best situation to be successful this year.”
The guard holds seven offers from Illinois State, UIC, Wisconsin Green Bay, DePaul, Bethune Cookman, most recently Cal Poly and Loyola. He says several other programs are showing interest.
“I have interest from St. Louis, Wake Forest, Creighton, and Drake.”
Joiner is taking his time with the process and doesn’t have any visits scheduled in the near future. What will he be looking for in a school?
“A program with great academics where I can trust the coaches. Where I can play as a freshman and I want to go with who wants me the most.”
