Former Sarasota Christian guard Blake Morrow recently decided to make the switch to Victory Rock Prep, where he says he’ll get the training he needs to take his game to the next level.
The 6-foot-3 shooting guard spent his 17U season playing with E1T1, and says playing with the prep school is similar to playing with the ultra-talented grassroots team.
“Sarasota Christian wouldn’t prepare me as well for college as well as Victory Rock has been doing,” said Morrow. “We have a really good team this year I think, it’s a lot like playing with E1T1, except I have a little bit of a larger role. Nobody can stay in front of of our point guard so he gets me a lot of open shots. And our bigs draw a lot of attention, so it just has made my game a lot easier playing with better players.”
PHF’s 48th-ranked 2016, Morrow has been drawing some Division I attention from five schools, and says as of now his plan would be to stay in Florida if he’s able.
“The four biggest schools (recruiting me) are Jacksonville, North Florida, Akron, and Columbia. I want to stay in Florida, that’s just my opinion right now, that could change but If I had a choice I’d like to stay in Florida,” said Morrow, who later mentioned University of Missouri-Kansas City had also reached out to him.
”They've all contacted me and they all came to visit me during the first few live periods,” said Morrow.
The 6-foot-3 senior characterized his style of play to PHF.
“Most schools are recruiting me as a two right now, if I need to play the one I can play the one. But I think it’s more fun to play the two,” said Morrow.
“I’m a guy who can shoot the ball, and really my strength is my ability to score the ball. Usually I always call for a screen or I can take my guy off the dribble. I like one-dribble pull-ups and two-dribble pull-ups, and trying to finish at the rim.”
