These segments will include everything from team previews to divisional breakdowns. While Virginia high school basketball is always crazy and unpredictable, it's always fun to predict ahead of time, then go back and compare at season's end.
We now move to the 6A South Region, which looks completely different with a change in both teams and an influx of players to perennial powerhouse programs such as Woodbridge and Woodside. The All Region teams are bound to look completely different than what we would of thought at the end of last season, but the region should remain one of the more competitive and spread out, with teams ranging from just south of Fairfax County to the Greater Richmond Area and Hampton Roads. Here's our picks for the 6A South Preseason Teams.
MVP: Chris Orlina; Senior WF; Woodside
His return to Woodside, along with point guard DeVante Carter, creates a new shift in the 6A Classification. Orlina, who holds an offer from ODU, played for Capitol Christian last season before transferring back to his original school in Woodside. He’s a dominant wing with good size, athleticism and terrific body control around the basket. He’s n impact in the press with his length and instincts, and is a terrific finisher in transition. It will be tough to stop the dynamic one-two combo of Carter and him for Woodside, who immediately becomes one of the favorites in 6A now.
