It featured a large group of talented prospects that went through a variety of drills, athletic testing, and also participated in games. We will have a full breakdown of the camp throughout the week and feature stories on players that participated. We start with our top overall performers at the camp
PG Ayo Dosunmu (Morgan Park _ 2018)
It was not surprise that Dosunmu shined at the camp as he is one of the top 2018 prospects in the state of Illinois. The smooth point guard has a great feel for the game and plays with supreme confidence. He was particularly effective in the pick and roll game where he made great reads and worked tremendously well with Marian Catholic big man TeeAaron Powell. Dosunmu consistently found his big man and put him in position to succeed. He used his speed and vision in the open court to make plays. The sophomore has the ball on a string and gets in the lane with ease. This Morgan Park standout can also score with an effective pull up jump shot and great range.
PG Brandon Simberg (Lake Forest Academy _ 2018)
This Lake Forest Academy point guard was extremely impressive with his high IQ and the way he commanded the game. The 5’8” sophomore is a plus passer in the open floor having several spectacular finds to his teammates for layups. His speed and the way he kept pushing the tempo really caused a problem for his opponent. Also showed he could score a little too with nice runners in the lane. One to watch going forward.
PG Joey Coffaro (Hersey – 2017)
The talk of the day was this Hersey junior combo guard. Coffaro was about in as much of a zone from three as you could be. The 5’11” guard has an effortless shooting stroke with consistent mechanics and lift off the floor. He was absolutely lethal from three point territory in the catch and shoot. Coffaro is more than just a plus shooter however. He handles it well and is crafty getting in and out of traffic with the ball. Plays with confidence and swagger.
SF Devin Blake (Downers Grove North – 2016)
The 6’5” small forward has a tremendous motor on both ends of the floor. He got things started in one game with a come from behind block where he chased his man down and pinned it against the glass. He is a versatile defender that can guard on the wing, but also be tough on the interior. Blake rebounds very well for his size using his strength and quickness on the glass. Offensively his jump shot was streaky throughout the day knocking multiple down in a row and then missing several. He made up for it with what he did consistently inside hitting the offensive glass and scoring in the paint with quickness. Will be a great D3 prospect.
SG LeRon Williams (Tinley Park _ 2016)
This 6’3” long and rangy wing is a smooth shooting guard that presents some upside. He uses his long strides and handles to cover a lot of ground in a short amount of time. Williams got in the lane with relative ease scoring at the cup. Also showed he could drill some deep three point shots. Sleeper senior prospect in the state.
PF TeeAaron Powell (Marian Catholic _ 2017)
Powell is a 6’8” four man that started the day off showing well in the drills. He consistently knocked down mid-range jumpers with ease. Continues to show development in this area as a face up post. Powell worked great with Dosunmu in the pick and roll game. He is light on his feet and very mobile. Runs the floor tremendously well and finishes around the hoop. When he gets the ball in the post he can score with his back to the basket using touch. Length plays well on the defensive end and glass.
