“I felt like it was a good fit,” Martin said. “I wanted to experience the EYBL and Peach Jam.”
Recently, Oklahoma City Thunder NBA Superstar Kevin Durant signed on to be an official sponsor of MOKAN Elite, a Kansas City based grassroots program. Durant adds to the MOKAN program, which was already thought of very highly across the country.
“Having KD sponsor the program is very exciting,” Martin said. “There will be high expectations for us.”
This season Martin moved high schools from Yukon to Norman North. With the move Martin has become very close with 2017 Point Guard Trae Young. Last summer Young played for MOKAN Elite in the EYBL. Young teamed up with Michael Porter to lead MOKAN to an appearance in Peach Jam.
The relationship Martin has built with Young had a very large role in his decision to leave the Oklahoma Wizards for MOKAN Elite.
“We have just clicked,” Martin said. “It feels like we have been playing with each other for years. We are getting really close on and off the court.”
Martin already holds five Division I offers heading into his junior season at Norman North. Portland, Oral Roberts, Mercer, Stetson, and Air Force are the five schools that have extended offers to Martin.
Expect big things on the court from Martin playing alongside a trio of Division I guards at Norman North. The Timberwolves will be tough to beat and even tougher with Martin in the paint.
Martin brings physically and toughness at Center. He plays with a chip on his shoulder and is not afraid to go at anyone. One thing that sets Martin apart in the paint is his excellent footwork.
