One of 2016’s top point guards, Bishop Heelan’s Deandre Burnside is still offer-less, but seems on the verge of picking up his first.

He’s hearing from a variety of Division II programs, with some light Division I recruitment, and one NAIA school seems hot on his trail.

“There’s quite a few schools that have shown a lot of interest. South Dakota came to an open gym last Sunday to watch. Upper Iowa, I’ve been on two visits there, also Mount Marty (NAIA), I’ve been on a visit there and they’ve been calling and getting a hold of me. And then Nebraska-Kearney and Concordia (St. Paul) have reached out to me.”

Burnside has also seen light interest come in from Wayne State, University of Mary, and Western Illinois. He says Mount Marty and Upper Iowa are the two schools pursuing the most right now.

The 5-foot-11 point guard spent his 17U offseason playing Showtime Hoopers, a program he was new to after spending previous seasons with the Barnstormers.

“I made the switch because with the Barnstormers practice was like four hours away, so I decided to just play in town, actually where we practiced for Showtime
