“I feel like I’ll actually be pretty good this season and I’m going to be somebody to watch out for,” Fox said. “I feel that it can be a statement season for our team (Northwood High School) because everyone is getting better and been practicing and playing hard.”
This hard work for Fox himself has mainly been focused on his shooting. The small forward, ranked No. 104 in the Prep Hoops Indiana Top 180, was told this was the biggest thing he needed to work on this summer by college coaches.
Colleges like Goshen and Bethel talked with him over the summer and told him with his strong and physical presence he could play at the next level if he improved this area of his game.
“They said I have a good physical presence and that I really just need to work on my shooting and stuff like that, but that everything else was there,” Fox said.
This has led Fox to the gym over the summer to find that shooting stroke that could propel him to a college program. He also hopes his work ethic has rubbed off on his teammates as he preps to be a leader in his final high school season.
“I have guys looking up to me, so I try to be there for them,” Fox said. “When in drills and stuff, and they are doing something wrong I try to help them out and show them how to do it and if they are playing and they put their heads down and get mad I just tell them to go to the next play and they’ll get better.”
Now it is just a matter of proving all that work can translate to the games. If Fox does that he could earn more than just victories for his team with college coaches noticing his play.
