Former City College guard Ben Stanley has recently transferred to Virginia’s Millwood School, and has reclassified to 2017.
The 6-foot-6 combo guard says his exact role with his new team is still unclear, but he’d like to continue to be the vocal leader he was with City College.
“I’m not just yet sure what my role will be, but we have a really good team so I don’t think anyone will average over 15 points,” said Stanley. “But I would like to continue to be vocal on the court like I always am, and continue to lead and talk to my teammates.”
While playing with Maryland 3D this spring, Stanley says his explosiveness improved, and he worked on his general guard skills too.
“I can jump higher now, I worked on my explosiveness,” said Stanley. “I worked on my ball-handling and my shooting. I do still need to work on my shooting, I need to shoot it more consistent.”
When we last spoke with the talented guard he was seeing Division II and Division III interest, but he’s recently been hearing from some Division I schools.
“I got Loyola, Longwood, Richmond, Quinnipiac showing interest in me right now, definitely a big leap since last time we talked,” said Stanley. “Longwood and Richmond want me to come visit, and Richmond just sent me a letter saying they will be watching me.”
Stanley said he expects to see his recruitment continue to rise, especially with him joining Team Loaded next spring, an Adidas Gauntlet participant
“I expect, to get a lot more offers, I’ll be playing on the Adidas Gauntlet with Team Loaded, so that should help a lot too,” said Stanley.
