“When I go to college, most places are going to want me to play wing, so I've been working on that,” Lucien said. “This season, I hope to play more outside.”
Lucien has put the focus on getting stronger, working on his ball-handling, perimeter play and defense. He believes that if he excels in those areas, he'll be more prepared for the next level.
Over the summer, Lucien picked up Division I offers to Ohio and UNC-Asheville. He's also receiving interest from Richmond, Miami (Ohio), Radford, Cleveland State and Buffalo.
“They like my athleticism and my potential,” Lucien said. “A lot of schools like my upside. They look for the future and how I develop.”
Lucien's first offer came from Ohio. It came as a surprise to him and others around him.
“I was super excited,” Lucien said. “I was on a visit. I had spoken to the assistant coach two times before. It was very casual. I did not think they were going to offer. They had never seen me play. They offered when we were in the film room. The head coach offered me. The assistant coach didn't even know.”
Lucien just wrapped up his final AAU season and now the focus is on his last go-around with North Olmsted. He's hoping that in his final season, he can take his team to new heights.
“We have four starters back,” Lucien said. “We still have that core group of guys, and we've been together for awhile. We have a good chance to win the conference, and I'm hoping we can do it.”
