We are looking at the player that elevated their game and stepped up when it mattered most taking both themselves and their teams to the next level.
With the graduation of a stellar class of 2015 prospect from the Chicago Lockdown program it was time for some new players to step up with Lockdown across their chest and they did just that. Two prospects in particular were effective in Thornwood shooting guard Drew Evans and Niles Notre Dame power forward Anthony D’Avanzo. In a close call our choice for Chicago Lockdown MVP goes to 2016 prospect Anthony D’Avanzo.
The Niles Notre Dame power forward impressed at every event we scouted him. The 6’7” four man has a skilled back to the basket game where he posts up strong while making a variety of low post moves. He has a soft touch and shoots a crazy high percentage on his shots from within 10 feet. D’Avanzo can also face up knocking down 15-18 jumpers with regularity. The 2016 prospect is an adequate rebounder. Also excels as a passer both in the post and is a plus outlet passer throwing long dimes right on the money. There wasn’t one moment that standouts out, but rather the consistent play throughout the circuit that impressed us most and helped him earn MVP honors.
