Johnny Mooney has committed to the defending ACC champs, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
At 6-foot-9, the former Florida Gator commit is a good fit for the Irish, with his ability to stretch the floor. He shoots the ball well from deep, and his post skills are developing at the present time.
His passing is probably the most underrated thing about his skill set. He didn’t play AAU this past summer after playing for Nike Team Florida 16U the year before, in order to focus on getting stronger, and improving his game.
Poised for a big senior season, Mooney is a player who we will be watching closely at Lake Brantley, and we expect to see him play often.
Mooney is the second commit for Irish Head Coach Mike Brey along with Temple Gibbs. Gibbs is one of the best guards in the Northeast, and won an EYBL Championship with the NJ Playaz.
