There were numerous performers who left their footprints on the camp. Campers who gave it everything they had and showed off the talent they possess. However, there was one camper who really stood out from the start to finish with his performances. Larenz Williams is a very athletic wing who has the ability to score from multiple levels.
He defends consistently at a high level and never backs down from competition. The 2019 6'3 athlete is currently our number two ranked prospect in the incoming freshman class and gave us no reason to think otherwise at camp except whether or not he should be number one. It is always good to see younger players rise to the challenge and he did just that when he returned to camp on day two.
Against older players it took him a few minutes to really get into the swing of things but coaches and players alike took note early. His play elevated as he got comfortable against older players and he rode that momentum to a very good all-star game performance.
Day Two – Upperclassmen
Day two of camp brought out some of the more well known players in the state. It also showcased some of the players what should be much more well known. The opportunity for some to prove they belong on the stage is exactly what we wanted. While numerous guys caught our attention, what 2016 Baker PG Ronnie Hamilton did in the All-Star Game was impressive.
At one point he crossed two defenders and made a no look pass to another camper for a dunk. As he stopped his momentum, he looked directly at some local media to let them know that it was his gym. In the highlight video below done by Josh Preston of NOLA.com, you'll see numerous highlights of Hamilton throughout.
That type of play and the ability to score in bunches is something that opened everyone's eyes. He is certainly under-recruited at this point with his length and skill set. Standing near six foot three with high level scoring outbursts is one thing but as he demonstrated his knack for making others better, he cemented a rise in the upcoming rankings.
