After an outstanding summer with the Oklahoma Wizards, 2016 Guard Darius Roy pulled in several offers. This past weekend Roy began the recruiting process by taking a trip to Macon, Georgia for an official visit at Mercer.

The trip to Georgia impressed Roy seeing the campus and facilities on the campus of Mercer. He did not realize how large the campus was until he arrived.

"The campus was really nice," Roy said. "It was much bigger than I suspected before and it was peaceful."

The coaching staff and players made a lasting impression with Roy. The way the staff and players communicated and worked together is what Roy took away the most from his visit.

"I really liked the team," Roy said. "They are a great group of guys and really interact well together with the coaching staff."

On Monday morning after reflecting on his visit Roy committed to Mercer. The commitment makes Roy the third player in the 2016 class in Oklahoma to commit to a Division I program.

Roy will now turn his focus to the hardwood as Lawton Ike looks to defend the Class 5A Gold
