It was a big offseason for one of Maryland’s most coveted prospects Myles Douglas.
The 6-foot-8 small forward held four offers from Miami, Hofstra, Maryland and Richmond coming in to his 16U offseason, and added six more by summer’s end.
West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Xavier, Temple, and most recently Penn State have offered the supremely talented wing. He says Villanova, Indiana, Georgetown, Louisville, and Syracuse are all showing interest.
His great size and ability to get to the hoop make him special, and he was on full display this offseason with Team Takeover.
“I think I did very well at getting to the basket and finishing at the rim, and I think my jump-shot really improved too,” said Douglas. “I also worked on being more locked-in and being more focused.”
Due to a family move in late-July, Douglas says he will play for Paul VI Catholic this season, he had spent his previous two season with Friends.
“I haven’t really played with the guys yet, we made the move at the end of July, so I didn’t really get to play in many team camps,” said Douglas.
“I know they have a great point guard, and I think my role will be to score and get my teammates involved, play defense, a lot like it has been in the past.”

Friends sophomore forward Myles Douglas has grown in more ways than one over the past year — not only has his skillset improved, but his physical stature too.
PHM’s 4th-ranked 2017, Douglas has grown to 6-foot-8, and has become even more menacing to opponents in the process.
“I think I’ve grown a lot as a leader and become more of an elite player and I became more consistent and came to play night in and night out trying to get wins,” said the highly touted sophomore.
“Being so versatile is what makes me dangerous — being able to shoot, being able to dribble and make plays for my teammates.”
The 6-foot-8 self described “point-forward” averaged 17 points 8 rebounds and 3 assists during his sophomore campaign at Friends and will once again play with Team Takeover this offseason.
“I just want to be better than last season, this year I don't really like how we went out in my high school season and that makes me more hungry heading into the summer, I’m going to go out there wanting to win every tournament,” said Douglas, who has a mature outlook on how he wants to improve during his 16U grassroots season.
”I want to work on athleticism and I really want to work on the mental part of the game. A lot of people can run and jump but I think at the elite level you have to be able to think the game as much as play the game.”
Douglas currently sports offers from Miami (FL), Hofstra, Maryland and Richmond and says he has interest from Syracuse, Louisville, Kansas State, Temple, Virginia, West Virginia and Temple.
He’s taken unofficial visits to Miami, Temple, Virginia and Maryland — but he’s more focused on the here and now.
“I liked them all the same,” he said. “But I don't think I’ll think I’ll even think about picking a school until my senior year.”
